Target Marketing

When producing anything with the intention of selling it, you need to consider the Target Market, this is a group of individuals that you have in mind when designing and pricing up.

This can be based on age, gender, social status, environment, trends, politics, religion and ethics.

Most of the time big companies tend to design their wares to be the same target market for the whole of that company, a perfect example of this could be Topshop as their target audience is young females who are probably around their mid 20's, a very trend set and have a good income. Occasionally as a brand they chose to branch into religion or politics, but it will be because these are things that are being found through the trend industry findings, an example of this could be from earlier this year when their jewellery featured rosary beads and christian crosses, also some of their tops embodied this symbol. This could be suggested to only be from British/ western trend industries because it is a western country and christian religion is more dominant in this domain but it isn't worn as a religious statement but a fashion statement.

This is something found myself touching on with my final prints for the print technical topic, one of my designs reminded me of surf wear because it featured oranges, whites and browns but had floral and fruit motifs.
