Fashion

Fashion.

Innovative, Expressive and Creative.

Fashion has played a big part in people's lives for century's  Georgian powdered wigs, Elizabethan collars, Victorian long dresses and petticoats,  the 60's miniskirt and 80's big shoulder pads, all are designed to make a statement.
They all try to out do the last trend and tend be completely impossible to function in.

They all want to be noticed.

And dig your grave'

Fleetwood Mac

This made me think of Fleetwood Mac's Stevie Nicks, because she is quite small and singing on big stages to great crowds, she used big draped shawls so people could spot even if they were a further away in the crowd. Her lavish Bohemian styled outfit has become an iconic look and has been used by other artists since.

Upon flicking through Vogue magazine November 2013 edition, I was drawn towards the grungy floral prints and that just scream reinvented 80s and 90s, giving it a reinstated idea moody yet delicate a phase most people go through as a teenager. ( I'm feeling kind of old with turning 20 soon)

This Black Taffeta ensemble by Comme des Gargons drapes and falls similar to structure of petals of flower but is given an dramatic edge
with its Gothic twist and ethereal presence.

The page opposite uses a touch of red to give you a glimpse of the former voluptuous and sumptuous flowers in the jack and the lacy chiffon dress uses distressed colouring and almost a Baroque - esque style by Riccardo Tisci is definitely a statement.

Speaking of designs that have been inspired by worn eras, this mini dress lingers on with decorative art movements being combined by Valentino.

The last image I took from this month's vogue is simply because I am feeling very 1920's and have started to read a book called 'Z - A Novel of Zelda Fitzgerald' by Therese Anne Fowler, I'm just fascinated by the time and movements that were happening then especially after reading 'The Great Gatsby' by Zelda's husband. Anyway this Louis Vutton dress just inspired me for a fancy dress party I'm having later on in the week, because who doesn't just love to dress up?

With the notion of Fancy Dress costumes, this made me think of Anna Sui's latest collection S/S 14, it also seems to hold an ethereal style and I immediately thought of  the Shakespearean play ' Midsummer's Night's Dream'.
Maybe use them for a modern day twist???
